In order to avoid pain and confusion in the year 2018, there are various deadlines which you definitely take seriously. Here are various deadlines set by the Indian Government related to Aadhar Card. If you've not applied for Aadhar Card yet, please apply now!

#1: Aadhar Card and PAN linking deadline is not 31 December 2017

The government of India had announced that the Income Tax Return (ITR) filed after July 1, 2017 will only be accepted if your PAN card is linked with Aadhar Card. However, for many people who were facing difficulty in linking, the deadline was extended to August 5, 2017.

On of the reasons cited were spelling and other basic errors that were making the linking process challenging. Therefore, the Indian Government had given the option to link the both on or before August, 2017. The new deadline set by Indian Government is now December 31, 2017. In order to process their returns, individuals must now link their PAN card with Aadhar on or before December 31, 2017.

The government has made it mandatory to link PAN with Aadhar (certain categories are exempt under notification issue on May 11, 2017) with amending the laws in the last union budget.

#2: Aadhar based e-KYC verification and mobile number linking must be done by February 6, 2018

The Department of Communications (DoT) has asked the telecom providers to confirm and re-verify all the existing mobile subscribers via Aadhar based e-KYC. Also it's now become mandatory to provide your Aadhar details before purchasing a new SIM card.

As per the Supreme Court judgement, the process must be completed by February 6, 2018. However, it's not clear what will happen if the numbers are not linked to the Aadhar Card. The telecom providers on their websites are recommending people to get this done as soon as possible or their service might be restricted.

There have been reports that mobile numbers that are not linked to the Aadhar Card will be deactivated.

#3: In order to enjoy Social Security Schemes Aadhar details must be submitted by December 31, 2017

Supreme Court has extended the deadline to submit the Aadhar Card details in order to enjoy the benefits of Social Security Schemes. It's now extended to December 31, 2017. Earlier it was September 30, 2017.

In order to benefit from schemes like buying LPC cylinders, Human resource development scholarship schemes, pensions and availing ration at a subsidised rate will not be possible if you've not shared your Aadhar Card details with the Government of India.

#4: Provide your Aadhar Card details to the financial institutions by December 31, 2017

Government has asked all the financial institutions, banks and intermediaries to make sure there all the customers are KYC compliant, which according the new rules shared by the government requires Aadhar verification.

In order to enjoy the services by financial institutions, a customer has to submit his Aadhar Card details in order to be KYC compliant. It's mandatory if you've made investments like mutual funds, stocks etc. You will also have to share these details if you want to take a loan from the bank.

After submitting these details, you will also undergo a verification process to make sure that all the details are correct.
